HONOLULU (HI Now) - Christie Brooke is a jazz/blues, and big band artist & actress from Kaneohe, HI.A singer-songwriter inspired by Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Raye, Frank Sinatra, and all things pink & retro, she’s bringing a brand new big band show to her island home. Her self-produced show “Jazz in Waikiki” recently debuted at Blue Note Hawaii which features her original big band tunes and vintage elements celebrating island life with an old Hollywood jazz and blues twist. Christie got her start singing on ABC’s primetime hit TV show High School Musical: Get in the Picture hosted by Nick Lachey. She’s headlined at The House of Blues on Sunset Strip, Whisky A Go Go, The Viper Room, SoFar Sounds in NYC, the Aloha Stadium, KTUH Radio, Retro 97.1FM, and more. Her work as film/tv actress in Hollywood started as she landed her first supporting role in Lionsgate’s 1940′s film called Midway Movie in theaters worldwide with Mandy Moore which earned the top spot at box office for the #1 movie in America.
As a songwriter, she is inspired by jazz standard composers such as Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Rogers & Hart, and 1940s film sound tracks starring Judy Garland and Lena Horne. Her current artist inspirations include Raye and Marylin Monroe in the classic film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Christie Brooke’s brand new single “Fool of Myself” is out now on Spotify and Apple Music.
