HONOLULU (HI Now) - Anita Peterson’s husband came home one day with a box of lilikoi fruit and asked her to make something with it. She decided to turn the box of fruit into a passion for crafting unique spreads and started Aunty Nita’s Jams and Jellies. Using fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and pineapples, she debuted her flavorful creations at the Kakaako Farmers Market in May 2023. Highlights include her Roselle jam, made from homegrown hibiscus, known for its tart, cranberry-like taste and health benefits.
Anita’s products shine for their versatility, with innovative uses such as spicy pineapple jam paired with crispy tofu for a sweet-savory glaze. Her spreads balance sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors, and she also crafts syrups and other specialty items. Each creation is made with care and a dedication to quality.
Supported by her husband, who grows many of the ingredients, Anita sources locally to ensure freshness. Her jams are available at the Kakaako and Kailua markets.
