HONOLULU (HI Now) - Founded in 2006, Mālama Kauaʻi is a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing local food production and access for Kauaʻi. They do this through a lens of resilience and sustainability, which leverages workforce and economic development efforts, partnerships and innovative programs to grow community capacity.

Mālama Kauaʻi’s food hub, Kauai Local Food, supports kūpuna who are on SNAP by offering a 50% discount on fresh produce, poi, and minimally processed items such as frozen vegetables and pure juices. This is made possible through the DA BUX program, which helps increase access to healthy, local food options for our kūpuna community.
