HONOLULU (HI Now) -This year, Big Island Coffee Roasters celebrated it’s 14th year of serving Hawaiʻi grown coffees to coffee lovers worldwide. Our Cafe & Roasters is located in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. What’s unique about us is that, while we started off as an award-winning coffee farm, today we’re a mill and roaster that works direct with 20+ farmers throughout Hawaiʻi. Because we’re a mill, we can work with fresh, small batches coffees.
We specialize in rare types like Kona Peaberry, Geisha, Bourbon, Maragogipe, and more. We’re thrilled to have grown our impact on farm sustainability this this year! In 2024, we put $1.8 million into the pockets of local farmers through our farm-direct purchases of fresh crop coffees, with 90% of those purchases coming from Hawaiʻi Island. These coffees were then milled, roasted, and shipped from our Hilo facility, which which employs 25 people. Altogether, that’s the equivalent of 2.5 million 12-ounce cups of Hawaiʻi-grown coffee shared around the world.
