HONOLULU (HI Now) - Jack in the Box® Hawaii is bringing together some of our favorite traditions by introducing the Loco Moco Smashed Jack with the help of the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
Our new island-exclusive menu item, the Loco Moco Smashed Jack features Jack’s 100% all-beef seasoned smashed patty, topped with a freshly cracked egg, a crispy panko-crusted onion ring, white rice, and savory brown gravy, all nestled between soft potato buns—a new take on Hawaii’s favorite comfort food, crafted especially for local tastes.
The Loco Moco Smashed Jack continues Jack in the Box Hawaii’s dedication to Asian and Pacific Islander-inspired menu innovation. Following the recent launches of the Ube Oreo Shake, boba, and a locally-inspired fried rice featuring SPAM, Portuguese sausage, and NOH Foods seasoning, the Loco Moco Smashed Jack embodies the brand’s mission to serve up familiar flavors with a playful twist.
To help launch the local favorite on a bun, Jack in the Box Hawaii is partnering with several University of Hawaii athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements, a first for the brand in Hawaii.
Jack in the Box is excited to have the help of Rainbow Warrior football players Kaena DeCambra and Zhen Sotelo and men’s basketball players Aaron Hunkin-Claytor, Kody Williams, and Akira Jacobs.

Their love of Jack in the Box supports local athletes while building positive brand recognition for both Jack and the University of Hawaii. Kaena, Zhen, Aaron and Akira will be in uniform and featured in Jack in the Box commercials airing statewide, continuing our brand’s connection with Hawaii’s communities.
