Community Month with First Hawaiian Bank: Aloha United Way Learn how First Hawaiian Bank is committed to strengthening the community, partnering with local organizations, and giving back through charitable initiatives.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - FHB’s mission is bringing together our people, culture, and technology to deliver personalized financial solutions to meet our customers’ needs. Beyond banking, FHB is committed to strengthening the community, partnering with local organizations, and giving back through charitable initiatives.

Since its inception in 2007, the Kokua Mai Campaign has allowed FHB employees to make a direct financial impact on local charities. Each year, employees generously donate to a range of causes, with over 98% participation in the campaign. To date, the bank’s employees have contributed more than $12 million to local organizations. This campaign not only helps fund vital community programs but also encourages a culture of giving back among employees.

In addition to financial contributions, FHB employees give their time and energy through volunteering efforts, both individually and as part of team initiatives like YesTeam and the Community Care Program. The Community Care Program is an employee-driven initiative where volunteers dedicate their Saturday mornings to work on projects that benefit communities across Hawaii. These can include activities like organizing cleanup efforts around iconic locations like Diamond Head or participating in local events such as the Aloha United Way (AUW) Kickoff Rally.

FHB believes in the importance of partnering with nonprofits like Aloha United Way (AUW) because it enables the bank to support initiatives that make a direct impact in the communities where both employees and customers live. Through partnerships with organizations such as AUW, FHB ensures that its resources are directed towards critical issues in the community—whether that’s combating food insecurity, supporting education, or providing assistance to families in need. John Fink, CEO and President of Aloha United Way, emphasizes how these partnerships ensure that the bank’s community contributions are aligned with meaningful local causes.
