HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hawaii Unified Industries is proud to announce the successful completion of a major rooftop solar installation at Alsco Uniforms’ Honolulu facility. This project marks a significant step forward in Hawaii Unified’s commitment to promoting renewable energy across the islands while supporting businesses in reducing their environmental impact.
“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Alsco to bring renewable energy to their facility and help them reduce their carbon footprint,” said Ryno Irwin, Chief Executive Officer of Hawaii Unified. “Our companies share a philosophy of reducing pollution for our state to give younger generations a chance to enjoy our beautiful island environment.”
Hawaii Unified, a leader in the energy sector in Hawaii, began preparations for this project in 2022, with roof work preceding the solar installation that commenced in October 2023. By December 26, 2023, the first phase of the solar system was operational, and the project reached full completion by June 2024. The installation is expected to generate 1,036,621 kWh of solar power annually, significantly reducing Alsco Uniforms’ carbon footprint by offsetting 1,575,891.54 lbs of carbon dioxide in the first year alone. This achievement is equivalent to planting over 12,000 trees and is expected to save the Honolulu facility more than $435,000 annually in power costs.
“Alsco places environmental stewardship as a top priority. The Steiner family and Alsco Uniforms are committed to protecting our planet and it is how we conduct our daily business. Environmental stewardship is our duty.” said Tim Stuewer, director of operations support at Alsco Uniforms.
Hawaii Unified, established in 2006, has grown to become one of Hawaii’s premier contractors specializing in electrical, solar, and energy storage solutions. The company has a track record of delivering high-quality projects across the islands, contributing to the state’s goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2045. This partnership with Alsco Uniforms underscores Hawaii Unified’s dedication to providing sustainable energy solutions that benefit both the environment and the local economy.
