HONOLULU (HI Now) - It became clear in 1953 that Windward O’ahu desperately needed a medical care facility of its own. The closest care facility was a 45-minute drive and ambulance services only operated between 1-9 p.m., Friday-Tuesday.
In 1963, Castle Memorial Hospital opened its doors with 72 beds and 14 bassinets. Fast forward to today, the hospital is now named Adventist Health Castle and is a full-service medical center with 160 beds, eight primary and specialty care clinics, and four urgent care clinics, staffed by approximately 300 physicians and more than 1,000 employees.
It’s been 60 years since the opening day of Castle Memorial Hospital, and still, we they continue to be overwhelmingly grateful for their community, support, and trust.
