Roger Jellinek was born in Mexico, grew up in England, and came to Hawaii as a student and hasn’t left since. He was an editor for the New York Times Book Review before coming to Hawaii to print maps. Roger actually produced he first digital map accurate to 30m of Oahu.

He also came as a literary agent, working with many local authors and on a few big projects. Two of his books made it to the Hawaii Book and Music Festival this year. One is the story of the Kealoha’s and the other is about COVID-19 and the pandemic.

“Listening is absolutely critical. Running this festival, I’ve almost never had anyone say no, because I listen to them,” says Roger.
