As the state reopened, the base that Dogtown Bakery had gained expanded to the mainland. Ichikawa went from selling 200 bags of dog treats every day to over 400 treats before 9:30 am each morning.
Ichikawa is proud to support local farmers and tell the stories of the ʻāina in her products. All of her ingredients are locally sourced, so customers support Hawaii’s agriculture with each purchase. In fact, clients often ask after certain brands; the carrots and sweet potatoes come from Maʻo Farms, and customers ask for it by name. In sourcing locally, Ichikawa links Hawaii with the mainland while supporting local businesses and fast-tracking the development of her brick-and-mortar store in Kailua.
