Shinnyo-en interactive experience helps community remember loved ones

Sponsored by Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii

An interactive experience includes a large-scale lantern, designed by artist Hide Tsutsui, which will be a space for reflection and remembrance. This lantern will be adorned with a silhouette of a kukui tree known as a symbol of light, hope and renewal. In addition, a four-paneled mural illustrating growth, connection and hope will be created by artist Boz Schurr and students from Kamehameha Schools. Participants will have the opportunity to write and hang messages of remembrance and commitments to positive action on the trees within the art installation.

Don’t miss the 30-minute television broadcast Share Your Light – A Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi Special on Memorial Day, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. on KGMB. The special will also be simultaneously streamed at and on Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi Facebook page and Instagram accounts.
