Local Hollywood starlet and designer shares life story

Estrellita Ortiz Green, also known as Estelle, has been involved in dance and acting since she was 13 years old. Some of the films and TV shows that she was featured in include: Gidget Goes Hawaii, every Elvis movie that was filmed in Hawaii, HAWAII the movie, Hawaiian Eye and the 1968 TV series Hawaii Five-O.

“My mother raised seven children on her own. We grew vegetables in our yard and would sell it in the neighborhood in a wagon. With that money, she was able to buy his meet,” Green recalls. “I was 13 when I started dancing to help my mom pay rent, to buy food.”

By November 2021, Green will have been married to attorney Michael J Green for 42 years. She has three children: Lani Patterson, Ariston Green, and Liana Green Wright. She is also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Currently, Green continues to design and produce her own clothing line “A touch of Estrellita.” She is a talented artist in oil painting and an experienced interior decorator. Her experience in pageantry started when she won Miss Hawaii Filipina at 17 years old. She went on to compete and win other competitions. Since then, she has judged The Miss Philippines Universe competition as well as several Pageants in the Teen, Miss, and Mrs. State pageants. When time permits, she coaches and mentors aspiring young women.

“I was designing since I was 15,” she says. “My mom always told me, ‘If you want to have nice clothes, you’re gonna have to learn how to sew.'”

She took that to heart and went on to make her first pageant dress. When she and her husband got married, she even made her own wedding dress.

“Keep God number one in your heart. Stay close to him, and he will give you whatever your heart’s desire is if he feels that’s what’s good for you,” she adds.
