The holiday season is all about giving, and this year Alaska Airlines is offering ugly sweaters for a good cause to help those experiencing food vulnerability.

All proceeds from the sales of its ugly sweaters will be donated to Aloha United Way’s Ride United Fund. This fund leverages United Way’s incredible reach and DoorDash’s last mile logistics platform, including its fleet of Dashers, to power deliveries from local food banks and food pantries. This ensures that meals get to those in need — like our kupuna, low-income families, and those who can’t leave home. It also serves as a way to provide flexible earnings and opportunities to Dashers in these unprecedented times.

The sweaters can be purchased online at companystore.alaskaair.com.

As 2020 comes to a close, and many continue to dream about traveling again, Alaska Airlines also just released “Safety Dance,” a fun music video featuring the ways it’s keeping guests and employees safe as part of its Next-Level Care. Recent research about air travel concluded that it is safe to fly by following a layered approach using masks, hand sanitizer and air filtration.

“Safety Dance” was directed by Warren Fu who is known for his work with artists such as Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Daft Punk and HAIM. The video was choreographed by Anna Matuszewski, who is known for her work with Macklemore.

The faces behind the masks are Alaska’s very own employees! Employees were chosen for the video in a variety of ways, including a few from the Alaska Flight Attendant Drill Team—who dance through the streets of Seattle for the Torchlight Parade and other events around the country to represent the company. Others were chosen based on workgroups, ability and willingness to dance, and leader nominations.

HI Now is looking forward to going on some new adventures with Alaska Air real soon!
