Hawaii’s real estate market has been surprisingly booming during the pandemic, and it could be a good time to start a career in the field. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson spoke with realtor Jarod Sampson from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hawaii Realty to get an update on the market and the industry.

When buyers start the process of looking for a home, Sampson says it’s important to first assemble your team.

“You’ll need a real estate agent who is a listener and an advocate, and you’ll need a loan officer,” he begins. “Once you have those two key members of your team, your agent can help with the rest.”

Berkshire Hathaway regularly hosts First Time Homebuyer workshops with agents and in-house lenders to educate interested people on the process.

Sampson is actually a graduate of Berkshire Hathaway’s RISE Training program. He says the program provided him with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed within the ever changing real estate market on Oahu.

“During my time in RISE, I opened and closed my first sale using the knowledge and skills I learned from RISE,” he says. “Karyn was there for me every step of the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.”

Sampson says he would recommend a career in real estate for those looking to start something new.

“The fun thing is every day is different, and I’m my own boss. With the support I’m getting from BHHS, I feel confident about growing my business and the unlimited potential of this industry,” Sampson adds.
