Goal Zero is an American company that specializes in products that harness solar electricity for a number of different purposes, like weather emergencies and even outdoor activities. These products include lanterns and flashlights which are powered and charged using solar panels. HI Now host Kainoa Carlson is with Gabe Berry at City Mill to get a demonstration of some Goal Zero products.
The founder of Gal Zero created a portable generator using a solar panel to bring sustained electricity to villages in Central Africa. After he returned to the United States, he founded Goal Zero as a business. Specializing in portable solar-powered products, the company’s motto is “Share the sun.”
City Mill carries a selection of Goal Zero products including a Tiny 5 lb. portable generator, a flashlight with a built in solar pane that also doubles as a power bank to charge your phone or tablet, and one of City Mill’s most popular items, the Crush Lantern.
The Crush Lantern is a collapsible lantern that uses solar power. It’s small, portable and great for outdoors as well as your emergency kit! It can even be charged via USB plug. You can position it in different angles or hang it on trees or cars to get the light that you need. You can run it on high for about two hours, but it can run for 35 hours on low after a full day’s charge.
