Check Out ‘N’ Take Out: Boba, Korean fried chicken, and tools to stay healthy!

HI Now hosts Kanoe Gibson and Kainoa Carlson are back with another edition of Check Out ‘N’ Take Out featuring businesses from around the islands that are open for business! With Check Out ‘N’ Take out on Hawaii News Now, you can always find out which restaurants and businesses are open in your community.

Next time you’re at Teapresso Bar to satisfy your boba craving, be sure to pick up some new Ube crinkle cookies and Ube pandesal! The crinkle cookies are now available at all locations, and the pandesal will be coming soon next week. All of these treats are baked fresh daily and are sure to go perfectly with an ube latte, a boba tea, or the exclusive HI Now Drinks! Don’t forget to check out Kanoe’s K-Presso and Kainoa’s new KC Cooler!

Teapresso will continue to operate as a grab-and-go facility for now, so you can order your drinks online and pick them up curbside.

Next up, if you’re looking for something to eat this weekend, grab some Korean fried chicken from Kickin Chick’n at Ka Makana Alii!

You can also pick up other popular Korean street foods, including corn dogs, cheese dogs, chicken sticks, and even sweet corn and shrimp sticks.

The Korean-style corn dog has also been becoming pretty popular here in Hawaii. The snack is covered with sugar and for the full experience, be sure to put sweet mustard and ketchup on top! You can get just the hot dog, just cheese, or get a hot dog and cheese mix. However, the most popular item on the menu is the garlic shoyu chicken, which is served in 10 or 20-piece boxes. Kickin Chick’n also offers chicken plates, which come with seven pieces of chicken, two scoops of rice and your choice of pickled radish or coleslaw.

Finally, with keeping healthy at the top of everyone’s minds these days, Aloha Island Mart is offering some cool items to help keep you safe. You can find a Germ Free Key, a handy tool to keep with you to avoid touching buttons or objects in public. There’s also different kits packed with masks, gloves, antibacterial hand gel, and antiseptic wipes. You can even find PPE at Aloha Island Marts — they’ve got adult and children Face shields, masks, and carbon filter mask inserts. And if you’re looking for something fun to do with the family while staying at home, you can even pick up a fun S’mores Maker Kit!
