Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, and if you’re looking for something special to wow loved ones, Watanabe Floral has some breathtaking arrangements. HI Now hosts Jobeth Devera is with Monty Pereira and Cory Ho to get a look at some unique offerings from the floral shop.
“It’s the biggest week of the year for a flower shop,” says Pereira. “It’s something that we plan months and months in advance for and then it becomes a fun week to execute and see all those people that we can bless with happiness.”
Some people may think roses are roses, but that’s where you’re wrong. At Watanabe Floral, the shop only uses extra long stem premium roses for its Valentine’s Day masterpieces. Watanabe is expecting to bring in close to 150,000 stems of roses and are prepared to make in excess of 3,000 arrangements.
In addition to its classic offerings, Watanabe is also doing some different arrangements this year. In 2019, the floral shop introduced rainbow roses. This year, you can get a bouquet of tinted blue roses!
“A dye is inserted into the bottom of the stem and it grows that in them,” Pereira explains. “So far it’s been selling like hotcakes online.”
Although Valentine’s Day lands on a Friday this year, why not celebrate early? This year, Watanabe Floral is doing free delivery from February 10-12. Its last day of delivery to outskirt areas like Hawaii Kai, Kailua or Kaneohe, Ewa or Kapolei, and Mililani will be on Thursday, February 13th. Come February 14, deliveries will only be made from Pearl City to Kahala. For all those that cannot be accommodated before then, free deliveries are being offered for Saturday, February 15. The company estimates it will do about 2,500 deliveries that week.
