Volunteers play a key role in giving back to our community, and connecting volunteers to those nonprofits most in need is what Hands In Helping Out (HIHO) has been doing in Hawaii for ten years. Committed to sustainable volunteerism, co-founder and executive director of HIHO Cheri Kishimoto says by connecting with each other in meaningful ways we are strengthening the nonprofit sector with quality volunteers.
HIHO is reaching out to the community for support in order to do this important work for another 10 years. They’ve launched a Comm(YOU)nity Capital Campaign that aims to raise $200,000 in order to sustain basic operational costs, as the nonprofit works toward its mission of sustainable volunteerism through human connection. HIHO invites YOU, our comm(you)nity, to donate to this campaign and champion the importance of connecting with one’s community through caring for each other.
Monies from the campaign will cover two basic needs: a physical space for HIHO programs and community gatherings, and insurance to protect our volunteers and support the safety of our programs.
“Ultimately, the funds raised will not only sustain us,” said Kishimoto, “it lays a solid foundation for growth so that we can affect more change, connect more volunteers, nonprofits, and communities and support the needs of volunteers and nonprofits so they can do incredible and necessary work.
