YWCA Oahu’s Fernhurst Facility Celebrates 100 Years of Empowering Women

YWCA Oahu’s Fernhurst program is on a mission to end racism while empowering women and strengthening communities.

Sponsored by YWCA Oahu

YWCA’s three-story Fernhurst facility in Makiki houses women who have recently been through traumatic situations, including domestic abuse, drug addiction and incarceration. With help from the experienced Fernhurst staff, these women can begin their journey of healing so that they may rejoin the community and reunite with their families. The staff create individualized work plans to make sure each woman thrives as much as possible.

When the Fernhurst facility was founded 100 years ago, it served as transitional housing for women who experienced housing instability. Now, it is celebrating its 100th anniversary with the Fernhurst 100th Donor Match Campaign. This campaign’s partners will match all donations from the public to support the organization, and every donation is tax-deductible.
