Sponsored by REHAB Hospital of the Pacific
It can be difficult for those with injuries and health concerns to keep up with a regular exercise routine at a commercial gym. That’s why REHAB Hospital of the Pacific’s Health and Wellness program is helping people practice and maintain healthy habits that support long-term lifestyle changes.
REHAB provides participants in the Wellness and Maintenance program with tools and facilities to meet their goals. The program is the perfect stepping stone for patients who have graduated from programs like cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and cancer rehabilitation. Often times, these individuals may be looking to continue rebuilding their life through exercise and wellness activities, but aren’t quite ready for commercial gym life.
Participants in REHAB’s Wellness program get full access, five days a week, to the equipment and technology at their Wellness Gym in Nuuanu. There, participants can measure and track their success at every session, monitor and track their blood pressure before and after every workout, and get support and advice from trained exercise specialists. In case of a health scare while exercising, REHAB’s Wellness Gym is also equipped with a code blue response team as well as CPR-certified staff who are just one call or page away.
The program helps former patients learn lifestyle changes to lower or minimize the effects of disease and reduce the risk of future health problems. It’s also an opportunity for these people to develop an exercise regimen that works for them and to be able to exercise in a safe environment monitored by trained specialists. Through the program, individuals are able to regain, or maintain, independence and physical function.
