Women experience unique health concerns, including pregnancy, infertility, menopause and gynecological disorders. That’s why University Health Partners (UHP) and the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) are committed to making sure women take their health seriously. University Health Partners of Hawaii offers a variety of specialty services and treatments specifically for women. It’s one of multiple clinics located in hospitals all over Hawaii with roughly 42 OBGYN physicians and another 107 that are volunteer faculty working with UHA & JABSOM
Dr. Richard McCartin, a board certified obstetrics and gynecology physician who specializes in minimally invasive surgery and women’s health, is one of physicians making a difference at University Health Partners of Hawaii. Dr. McCartin knows that seeing an OBGYN for the first time can make people nervous or reluctant to discuss their concerns, but a first visit at the Women’s Health Specialist location in the Pali Momi Outpatient clinic is often a patient’s opportunity to meet and get to know her doctor. Whether an exam is done or not is completely up to the patient.
Dr. McCartin is also a professor at JABSOM. He teaches medical students, residents and fellows at multiple hospitals and faculty practice sites like Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, The Queen’s Medical Center and at their clinic space in the Pali Momi Medical Center.
He says women of all ages can expect caring, coordinated and comprehensive health services at each of these locations. Each location is also equipped with the most advanced research, clinical knowledge and medical technology, providing the best place for medical students and patients alike to see and experience tomorrow’s healthcare today.
