HI Now host Kainoa Carlson visits TeaPresso Bar in Hilo, which is the restaurant's newest and biggest location in the state. This location opened in 2019 due to increased demand on the big island, and now sells the highest volume of drinks of any TeaPresso store.

With a larger store and more drinks comes a bigger team; this TeaPresso has 25 trained baristas on staff. The location has also developed a full curbside service, with baristas taking orders from the parking lot.
“You’ve been able to drive up, park your car, get your order taken within five to ten minutes.” said Chain Store Co-Owner and Operating Partner Craig Okui.
When they walk in, customers are greeted by a mural that says “Aloha Hilo,” surrounded by paintings of local landmarks. The goal with this mural is to personalize the space and make customers feel welcome in the new, larger store.
After the pandemic began, TeaPresso began fundraising to support local high schools, medical centers and nonprofit organizations.
“The community has kept us afloat during the very hard times of the last year, so it’s important to do what we can and that’s just our way of giving back,” said Okui.
