Keala Foundation aims to build communities that support the youth of Hawaii
Sponsored by Keala Foundation
Prepare to get muddy! Join the fun at the Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run on Saturday, September 14, 2019! The run boasts some of the most extraordinary views on Kauai and all of the proceeds go towards the Keala Foundation’s mission of building communities that support Hawaii’s youth.
The Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run is the Keala Foundation’s primary fundraising event, and every year, thousands of people gather to support the non-profit. You can run the 5K, 10K, or the 5K team event. While the 5K is challenging, the 10K is best suited for experienced trail runners and athletes. There’s also a “Cruise Run,” which is a flat track suited for all ability levels, especially younger kids.
The Keala Foundation’s mission is to build communities that support the youth of Hawaii. Hawaii hosts one of the highest rates of suicide and drug addiction in the nation, and the non-profit aims to combat addiction and suicide by building a positive environment for kids to support them through the most formative and critical years of their life. The Keala Foundation believes that the solution to substance abuse and suicide begins with healthy relationships. Through community, it hopes to equip youth with the tools they need to overcome any challenge.
The Keala Foundation has three different locations on Kauai: Poipu, Kekaha, and Anahola. Over 400 kids are registered in the program. CrossFit and Jiu Jitsu are the methods used to teach students about discipline, hard work, and healthy living.
Participation in the Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run allows Keala Foundation programs to thrive throughout the entire year. Online registration for the event closes Thursday, September 12 at 9 p.m. However, participants can still register at the race venue on Friday and Saturday. You can also support the cause through monetary donations.
