You can’t make a trip to Buzz’s Original Steak House in Kailua without trying a steak! HI Now host Kanoe Gibson has tried the restaurant’s most popular appetizers, and now she’s on to the main course. On the menu today? A Hawaiian ribeye from the Big Island and fresh, Chinese-style mahi mahi.

When it comes to fish, it doesn’t get any fresher than Buzz’s. The restaurant gets it fresh from the auction block or from local fishermen. You can get your fish four different ways: grilled, hibachi-style, Chinese-style, and sometimes, a special served with a macadamia nut crust.

“We actually steam the mahi mahi or whatever fresh fish selection you choose in ginger and garlic, and then we top it off with a really hot peanut oil sauce and soy sauce.” says Tahiti Huetter with Buzz’s Original Steak House. “It has a really Asian influence. It’s really good!”

Just wait until you see the steaks! These are cooked over a kiawe grill, served with horseradish, au jus, and fresh vegetables. “That kiawe smoke is what we’re known for,” Huetter says. Buzz’s is also known for steak, seafood, and last but not least, its salad bar! It’s something that comes with every dinner entree, and it’s unlimited!

Buzz’s is a family-owned restaurant, and you can tell by the love in its food. It’s been putting out classic dishes made from family recipes for decades. “You’re always guaranteed a really yummy, tasty meal with friends and family,” says Huetter.

The restaurant is open for lunch daily from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Get drinks and pupus from 3 – 9:30 p.m., or enjoy dinner from 4:30 – 9:30 p.m. every day. For reservations, just call 808-262-4661.
