Local artists put on Kaka'ako concert
Get ready for the Aloha From Hawaii Festival May 17 and 18 in Kaka’ako! Reggae roots band The Green will be performing along with a host of other musical acts at the corner of Coral & Auahi Street. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson is with Zion Thompson and JP Kennedy from The Green to talk about the concert.
Aloha From Hawaii is a concert series that curates shows around the islands, showcasing artists from Hawaii and other parts of the world. The 21 and over event will take place in the area across from SALT over two days. One-day tickets and two-day passes are available for purchase.
The Green, Collie Buddz, FIA, and Westafa will be performing on both nights. On Friday, May 17, other performances include Josh Tatofi and Aisaiah Jacobs. Then on Saturday, May 18, see Johnny Suite, Likkle Jordee, and Jasmin Nicole take the stage.
The Green just recently released a new acoustic album, “Black & White.” This album gave the band a chance to revisit some of its most popular songs, recording new, soulful acoustic arrangements that echo the intimacy you would find while hanging with the band in the green room before a show. The Green will be signing pre-sold copies of the album at the event.
2019 looks busy for the band. The group is currently working on its fifth studio album and hopes to release it by the beginning of 2020. The Green will also be hitting the road hard this summer, touring the U.S. and doing some shows with UB40 and Shaggy, along with some headline shows and festivals mixed in.
