Pumpkin Everything: Get into the Fall spirit and try these recipes!

Pumpkin dip, lattes, and SPAM?

It may not feel like it here in Hawaii, but it’s Fall! To get into the spirit, HI Now hosts Jobeth Devera and Kanoe Gibson are whipping up some festive dishes and drinks with everyone’s favorite Fall ingredient: Pumpkin!

In Hawaii, almost everyone loves Spam, but what about pumpkin spice Spam? This year, the Spam released a limited edition flavor with hints of cinnamon, clove, allspice and nutmeg, giving the meat a subtle sweetness. While Spam recommends frying it up with waffles, hash or eggs to make the perfect breakfast, the hosts are trying it the only way locals would: In a Spam musubi.

Next up, an easy Fall recipe you can make ahead of any holiday get together: Pumpkin Dip! This creamy appetizer is perfect to snack on with some wafer cookies, or even apples, and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. When it comes to gathering your ingredients, make sure the cream cheese is softened before starting. You can also substitute pumpkin pie spice for the ground cinnamon.

Pumpkin Dip:

Ingredients:
1 cup pumpkin puree
½ cup powdered sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. whipped topping
½ tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:
1) Mix together pumpkin, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and ground cinnamon until smooth and creamy.
2) Fold in cool whip topping, then put in fridge until ready to serve.
3) Serve with wafer cookies, graham crackers, or apple slices and enjoy!

Then, the hosts are making everyone’s favorite: Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Why go to a coffee shop when you can make this Fall treat in your own home? It’s the perfect way to start your morning, or as a nice afternoon pick-me-up!

Pumpkin Spice Latte:

Ingredients:
2 cup milk
3 T puréed pumpkin
3 T sugar
1 T vanilla extract
½ tsp Pumpkin pie spice

Directions:
1) Simmer together ingredients
2) Add to coffee (1:1 ratio)
3) Top with whipped cream
4) Top with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice to finish
