Program recognizes Hawaii restaurants that implement ocean-friendly practices

The Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants Program

Nearly 200 restaurants in Hawaii have joined forces with The Surfrider Foundation in an effort to protect our ocean and reduce plastic waste. To become an Ocean Friendly Restaurant, all take out containers must be compostable or recyclable, proper recycling practices are followed, only reusable tableware is used for onsite dining and no plastic bags may be offered.
