Maui-native Nu’u featured in next HI Now Live music series May 9

Sponsored by Jams World, Surf line Hawaii & 93.1 Da Pa'ina

The HI Now Live music series continues Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 6 p.m. with local artist and Maui-native Nu’u at Shirokiya Japan Village Walk at Ala Moana Center.

The singer-song writer has been playing music since he was four years old. At the age of eight, his ambitions grew greater when he learned to play the ukulele and learned church hymns from his grandfather. When he turned 13, Nu’u was gifted with a guitar, which would become the staple instrument in his creative process. He’s always been connected to music, and like his father, Nu’u has a strong connection to the Hawaiian culture and hula.

Before going solo, Nu’u was a part of Hawaiian Island reggae groups Ma’oli and Malino. He’s worked with other local artists like Josh Tatofi and Kaipo.

Nu’u recently released his debut single “Like You,” which hit number one on the radio charts and has trended throughout the United States, New Zealand and Australia. The single was also featured on the iTunes and Billboards top 100 reggae charts. Nu’u also just released his newest song, “Out of My Head.”

The HI Now Live music series continues with a free performance by Mahi in June!
