12-hour, slow-roasted Kalua pig? Yes, please!

If Kalua pig is your jam, then you need to stop by Kono’s! The restaurant is known for its 12-hour, slow-roasted Kalua pig served with extra aloha. HI Now host Jobeth Devera stopped by to check out the rest of its menu.
In 2002, Kono’s opened with humble beginnings in Haleiwa. With its fun, surf-inspired atmosphere and delicious dishes, Kono’s has grown to be an island favorite and has been selling its signature Kalua pig inside breakfast burritos, sandwiches and plate lunches.
Its most popular dishes? You can’t go wrong with the triple crown sandwich. It’s filled with the slow-roasted Kalua pulled pork you know and love, plus ham, bacon, guava barbecue sauce, cheese, and slaw. Feeling like a breakfast burrito? Try one of the restaurant’s delicious breakfast bombers. Each comes with eggs, potatoes, and a blend of shredded jack and cheddar cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.
Kono’s also serves up specialty smoothies, hand-crafted milkshakes and fresh squeezed lemon and limeades. If you have a sweet tooth, look out, because you’ll want to try them all!
Looking to cater a party? You can also pick up trays to go. Kono’s offers large batches of its Kalua pig, breakfast bombers, and sandwich trays. In the near future, Kono’s and its sister restaurant, The Surfing Pig, will join teams to enhance its catering efforts. To place your order, just call (808) 892-1088.
In 2017, Kono’s was voted #1 Plate lunch, #1 Breakfast, #1 Restaurant Under $29 and #1 Cheap Eats through the Reader’s Choice Awards in Hawaii Magazine. In 2017, and again in 2018, Kono’s received the prestigious ‘Ilima People’s Choice Award for “Best Casual Restaurant.”
