BYU defensive lineman is expected to be mid round NFL draft pick in 2021
Everyone’s journey is faced with its own set of triumphs and adversities, an BYU defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga has seen his fair share of both.
In 2021, the NFL draft will take place an hundreds of collegiate football players will realize their NFL dreams.
Tonga, is expecting to hear his name called, although an NFL dream was something that at one time seemed impossible.
During his high school years Tonga overcame many challengers both on and off the football field.
Tonga, came from an unsteady home where his parents at times were in and out of the picture.
After discovering the Mormon church through family and friends, he turned his life around.
He has excelled in the defensive line for the Cougars, and made his impact immediately, as a sophomore Tonga recorded 28
tackles on the season including 19 solo stops and three for tackles for loss.
Following his stellar junior season, they’re was talk of the 6’4 320 pound nose guard leaving to go to the NFL, but he chose to return for his senior season.
Tonga will finish his career at Aloha Stadium in the 2021 Hula Bowl, coming full circle in a journey that has taken him from the streets to the pros.
