Fueling every local lifestyle with classic favorites

Kalapawai Market has been serving what you crave since 1932, and the restaurant is excited to get back to doing what they do best by serving the people of Hawaii ono food in a safe environment. HI Now host Kainoa Carlson went to check out what the Kapolei location is doing to make take out easy.
With it’s three locations in Kailua Town, Kailua Beach, and Kapolei, the menu pays homage to small town markets, which became neighborhood hubs uniquely shaped by the people it served. The green exterior signature look has become a symbol of a simpler time.
The food at Kalapwai Market is designed to fuel every local lifestyle with classic favorites inspired by homecooked meals, backyard barbecues and beach-side picnics. It’s a family business that treats every team member and customer as one of their own.
While the business has been a staple on the east-side of the island, in 2017 Kalapwai Market headed west and opened it’s Kapolei location. There the restaurant offers counter service, fast-casual breakfast and lunch service daily along with its award-winning dinner service and a full bar. Kalapawai prides itself in providing the most delicious coffee, deli sandwiches, lunch plates, salads and pizzas to the heart of Kapolei while keeping the same friendly, neighborhood service that they are known for.
The market always looks to buy from local farmers and ranchers first whenever possible to make its menu items. Kalapawai’s deli features Boar’s Head premium meats for sandwiches, only fresh, day-boat fish for entrees, while offering a unique fine wine and beer list and coffee that is roasted fresh in Kapolei.
The Kapolei location is also the only place to try the restaurant’s new steak bentos, featuring an 8 oz. grilled Top Sirloin served on a bed of rice accompanied with a variety of different veggie options.
Kalapawai Market is continuing to expand and is getting set up to open a new location in Waimanalo.
