Looking for a new restaurant to add to your must-try list? New to Kakaako is Ya-Ya’s Chophouse & Seafood, a steakhouse specializing in Prime meats. HI Now host Jobeth Devera is checking out
“This not your grand dad’s steakhouse,” says owner William Nickerson. As you walk into the restaurant, you’ll notice murals in the dining room and an impressive bar area lit up with purple lights — complete with large television screens for those who want to catch some sports.
While Ya-Ya’s is known for its 40-44 oz. Tomahawk, also known as “The Beast,” it’s also one of the few restaurants where you can order Wagyu beef. What separates Ya-Ya’s even further form the rest is that it’s a certified restaurant from Nagasaki. Experience extreme marbling when you order its A-5 Imperial Cut, a sought-after 5 oz. steak.
“Marbling is from the fat in the meat and that gives it the intense flavor it has,” Nickerson explains.
The experience starts at Ya-Ya’s before your steak even arrives at the table. The staff there present you with a box where you get to select the knife you will use to cut into your entree.
To complete the meal, you gotta have those classic steakhouse sides! Ya-Ya’s offers a unique take on some favorites with its Smashed Potatoes, a take on a loaded baked potato; Creme Brulee Corn with a sweet, creamy topping that will make anyone love vegetables; and even deep fried Brussel Sprouts with bacon.
Ya-Ya’s also offers one of the happiest happy hours in town! All day, everyday, get happy hour specials while seated at the bar. Enjoy specials on select draft beer and wine along with the restaurant’s bar bites menu.
To make your reservation, just call: 808-725-4187. The restaurant is open Monday – Thursday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. – 12 a.m., Saturday from 5 p.m. – 12 a.m. and Sunday from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
