Hilton Hotels is celebrating its 100th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the hotel giant has partnered with Shriners Hospitals for Children for a very special act of hospitality. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson is with Duke Ah Moo, vice president and commercial director of Hilton Hawaii to talk more about its gift to the children at Shriners.
Over the past century, Ah Moo says the term “The Hilton Effect” was coined. He says it’s the positive, world-altering impact that Hilton has had, and continues to have, on billions of lives and thousands of communities around the globe. To continue that tradition and celebrate its landmark anniversary, Hilton is bringing random acts of kindness across different communities.
Music plays a big part in healing, so Hilton donated 100 ukulele to Shriners Hospitals for Children. “The children have ukulele as part of their recreational therapy,” Ah Moo said. “We went down to Shriners and handed out ukulele, handed out some special treats, taught them a song.” The Hilton team also brought a special guest along with them — Jake Shimabukuro! The ukulele player also taught the kids a song of his own.
Hilton plans to continue to positively impact communities in the future. In 2019, Hilton was named Fortune Magazine’s Best Place to Work. Ah Moo also says Hilton has a goal of cutting its environmental impact across the world in half by 2030.
Hilton Waikoloa Village — first hotel to have no plastic straws. Over a million straws a year. Helped community and environment.
