Figuring out what to eat is always a tough decision, but with Hibachi Honolulu Market now open in Kakaako, it’s soon to be your go-to spot for food and drinks! Whatever you’re in the mood for, Hibachi most likely has it. From fresh poke to plate lunches, you have big selections and big decisions ahead.

“Hibachi started among a group of friends. We all played basketball together,” explains co-owner Terril Chun. “We thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to own a restaurant together?'” Over drinks in the backyard, the concept for Hibachi was born. The eatery opened up its first location in Kailua about 10 years ago where it garnered a following, allowing it to expand to a new location in Kakaako.

Chun says Hibachi is all about convenience. “We strive to deliver great comfort food priced reasonably,” he says. The market is located in Keahou Lane, which is within walking distance from nearby condominiums, Restaurant Row and SALT. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that!

While you’ll find plate lunch staples like its kalbi and teriyaki chicken combo, you can also buy raw meats to take home and barbecue yourself. Don’t forget the drinks! The market is home to a wide variety, including sodas, beer, and a collection of wines and spirits.

Hibachi also offers fresh poke and local fish fillets. “Our poke is fresh cut every day. We have six different types right now and then we vary it from day to day,” says Chef Chris Merez. “We’re making small batches, so you’re always going to get something fresh.” Some poke you’ll most likely only find at Hibachi? Try the Thai Chili or the Hamachi poke!

When planning your next gathering, or your next meal, think Hibachi! Call (808) 762-0845 to place your takeout or catering order. You can also contact the market at hibachihonolulumarket@gmail.com. The market also offers free validated one-hour parking! Just look for the Keahou Lane parking entrance on South Street or Pohukaina St.
