The HI Now Live music series is back in 2020 bringing you good vibes and good music on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at a brand new location: Mangiamo by 604. The beautiful new venue overlooks the Navy Marine Golf Course and is open to the public. This month, the free concert will feature Kalena Ku Delima!

Kalena Ku grew up singing Hawaiian music and playing ukulele with her father in Waikiki. She was classically trained in piano and voice for over 10 years. She graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and then continued her education in the New Media Arts Interface Design program at Kapiolani Community College.

In 2010, the singer-songwriter released her first Island Reggae single entitled, “Hideaway.” With that release, she earned her first Na Hoku Hanohano award nomination.

The singer-songwriter has also been the keyboardist and vocalist in the group Kapena since 2006. In 2017, the group released its first full length family album, “Palena ‘Ole,” which earned the band four Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including Album Of The Year and Group Of The Year. She is currently the group’s in-house graphic designer and writer.

Kalena Ku has held the lead female vocalist role in the Disney Aulani’s nighttime show, “Aulani Starlit Hui,” since the opening of the hotel in 2011. She now performs nightly in the new Disney Luau show called “Ka Wa’a.”

So here’s your chance to catch Kalena Ku performing live on Thursday, January 16, at Mangiamo by 604. The event is free and starts at 6 p.m. Be on the lookout for more concerts with talented local musicians during the HI Now Live Music Series in the coming months.
