HI Now hosts sample Thanksgiving desserts from around Oahu

Pumpkin is all the craze!

While it’s customary to start a traditional Thanksgiving diner with the turkey, the team at HI Now likes to skip straight to dessert! Kanoe Gibson and Kainoa Carlson are in the kitchen with a plate of some of their favorite pumpkin desserts from around Oahu that you should consider adding to your Thanksgiving feast!

Don’t miss out on a traditional favorite from Hawaiian Pie Company with a Pumpkin Custard Pie, November’s Pie of the Month! It’s a tasty layer of custard topped with a delicious layer of pumpkin, living in a bed of our melt-in-your-mouth crust, and tastes as good as it looks.

Hawaiian Pie Company is a family-owned bakery in Honolulu that specializes in melt-in-your-mouth buttery fruit pies and baked goods. While they may be sold out already for Thanksgiving week, be sure to check back for new monthly specials and its other specialties.

Up next, you can’t go wrong with a Pumpkin Haupia Cream Pie from Ted’s Bakery! You can find this delicious treat at most supermarkets along with other Ted’s classics like its Chocolate Haupia Cream Pie and Macadamia Nut Cream Pie.

And finally, La Tour is known for its kouign-amanns, and special during this season, you can try its Pumpkin Butter Mochi kouign-amann! Perfect for all those butter mochi lovers out there. With a hint of pumpkin flavor, you won’t be able to get enough of this sweet, flaky dessert.

La Tour Cafe has 5 locations on Oahu: Aina Haina, Iwilei, Pearl City, Kapolei, and Windward Mall. There you’ll also find artisan and organic breads, Japanese-style shokupan, lavosh, crisps, and granola. You can follow on Instagram @LaTourCafe to see all the bakery’s latest specials.
