HI Now is celebrating one year of showcasing the best of Hawaii! To commemorate the milestone, HI Now hosts Jobeth Devera and Kanoe Gibson are taking a look back at some of the best moments. From swimming with sharks to jumping off bridges, these ladies have experienced a whirlwind of adventure!
Jobeth and Kanoe got the thrill of a lifetime during a tandem skydive with Pacific Skydiving on the Oahu’s north shore when they jumped out of a Cessna Grand Caravan at 14,000 feet! The day wasn’t over yet, as the pair went back up for another jump — this time from a helicopter with the doors off! Once back on the ground, the thrill-seekers said the helicopter got their vote for most thrilling.
Throughout the year, the hosts have been able to showcase some of Hawaii’s beautiful culture. Kākau uhi is the term used for the practice and tradition of Hawaiian tattooing that uses hand-tapping tools made from natural material, and Jobeth experienced the ancient art first-hand with Hawaii’s first-titled Kahuna Kā Uhi (tattooing priest) Keliʻiokalani Mākua.
Thanks to Hawaii Gas, INspiration Interiors and Riggs Distributing, HI Now debuted its beautiful new kitchen and cooked with some of Hawaii’s most talented chefs. Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi even came down to do the grand unveiling, breaking in the kitchen by cooking up a delicious paella.
HI Now has also showed Hawaii families what they can experience on vacations of their own. The HI Now explored Las Vegas with Vacations Hawaii, showcasing some classic casino fun at Hawaii’s home away from home, the California Hotel & Casino. The fun didn’t end there, as the team drove out into the Nevada desert for some dune buggy racing.
The traveling didn’t stop there, as HI Now explored California, including visits to Catalina Island and breathtaking sights of Napa Valley from a hot air balloon. Kanoe even took viewers on a road trip through Oregon, exploring downtown Portland’s most Instagram-worthy sights, skiing at Mt. Hood, and finishing on the coast at Cannon Beach’s famous Haystack Rock.
