He co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss and would go on to sign such acts as Carole King, The Police, and Supertramp. He is also an accomplished visual artist and philanthropist; at age 89, he continues to paint and sculpt while supporting arts education programs through the Herb Alpert Foundation.
