Foodie favorites in Midtown Ala Moana

Sponsored by Azure Ala Moana Condominiums, in the heart of Midtown

Not only is Midtown Ala Moana a neighborhood hot spot for fashion, but it’s also a haven for foodies! HI Now host Kanoe Gibson met up with food blogger Melissa Chang to experience some of her favorite food spots in the area.

The food tour started at Sushi II, a restaurant featuring inventive rolls, deep-fried fish, and specializing in omakase, or sushi chef’s choice. It also offers a unique sashimi that you won’t find at other sushi spots, including firefly squid and live halibut. You’ll also find a full dining menu with dishes like rack of lamb and escargot.

For the main course, the pair headed to Kickin Kajun, Hawaii’s first seafood Cajun seafood restaurant, for some lobster and crab. The restaurant specializes in Cajun-style seafood boils stuffed with steamed potatoes and tender pieces of corn on the cob. Ditch the china, and get those bibs ready as you prepare to dig in and get your hands dirty. It’s also a perfect place to bring the whole family and enjoy a steaming bag of seafood and perfect for groups! In addition to seafood boils, it also has a selection of fried baskets, Po’ Boy sandwiches, and alcoholic beverages.
