It’s time to refresh your wardrobe for Spring! Fashion designer Allison Izu began designing clothes for petite women and recently expanded into designing clothes for women of all body types. As a way to put a positive spin on all body types, Izu encourages women to #LiveYourLetter as a convenient way to shop her line and to find the perfect fit while feeling empowered to be their most authentic selves.
The Allison Izu brand is a collection of elevated basics, designed for fit and function for the modern woman. To design for all women, fashion designer Allison Izu used the letters of her name – A L I S O N – to create a universal system for body typing based on common body shapes.
The “A” body type has narrower shoulders and fuller hips, just like the capital letter A. For someone with an “A” body type, it’s best to wear tops that finish at the widest point of the hips and to wear a wider top with a slim pant.
The “Mandy” ¾ sleeve and the “Kiki” pant are a great place to start for “A” body types. The “Mandy” has side slits, which will cover your bottom if you prefer. You can also do a half-tuck in the front, which will elongate the body while still covering hips and backside. The “Kiki “pant is great because it’s a good fit for every body type. It has a flat front so it won’t add fullness to the tummy area, and it’s a great option to make your bottom half look slimmer.
Other popular designs such as the “The Nadia” dress and “The Loren” cover up are also good options. The Nadia is a slim-cut dress that can be converted into different styles with draw strings on the side. You can shorten it for a shorter body or create gathers to hide the midsection. The Loren cover up is a great cover up for A body types because it cuts the hips and adds an interesting dimension.
