McDonald's Proudly Serving Aloha Since 1968
McDonald’s has been thriving in Hawaii for 50 years and now the quick-service giant is upgrading its restaurants to bring you the experience of the future. If you’ve been to McDonald’s recently you’ve probably noticed its fresh modern dining rooms, digital menus, faster Wi-Fi and kiosks as soon as you enter the restaurant. Whether you’re grabbing an Egg McMuffin, Signature Crafted Sandwich or McCafe, ordering has never been this easy – or this much fun! Currently more than half of McDonald’s 74 restaurants in Hawaii have undergone the modernization process. The remaining restaurants are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
So what are some of the upgrades? McDonald’s is enhancing everything from fresh new dining rooms to better technologies. Customers now have easier and exciting ways to enjoy and pay for their meals like never before, including digital kiosks, table service, mobile ordering from your phone and delivery service called McDelivery. These new technologies are not replacing people. Rather, they are creating jobs in hospitality such as Guest Experience Leads, or GELs, who help and interact with customers at the kiosks, tableside and curbside.
The new digital kiosks make ordering and paying for a meal fun and easy. Guests are empowered to browse the menu and customize their meal just how they want. New table tents use a GPS-like technology to pinpoint where you are in the restaurant and GELs deliver your food right to your table. Customers can now place a mobile order. All you have to do is download the McDonald’s app, which allows customers to order and pay for their meals right from their smart phones. Food can be picked up curbside in designated parking stalls or customers can enter the drive-thru.
McDonald’s is now delivering too. McDonald’s partnered with UberEATS to create a food delivery service – called McDelivery. Customers just download the UberEATS app to their smartphone, place an order and have it delivered to their door. Currently this is only available on Oahu.
