Earth Week – Volunteers Help to Keep Hawaii Waters Clean and Safe

Earth Week

Earth Week - Sponsored by Aqua-AstonThe Blue Water Task Force program is a citizen science initiative headed by the Surfrider Foundation, Oahu Chapter.

Started in 2018, volunteers sample water to check levels of bacteria at sites outside of the State of Hawaii, Hawaii Department of Health’s monitoring network. The information that is gathered details the water quality at a number of beaches on O`ahu, including Pua’ena Point on Oahu’s North Shore, Kahalu’u on the east side and Black Point in Honolulu.
