Check Out ‘N’ Take Out: Deals from Giovanni’s Shrimp, Max’s of Manila, and Chef Chai

HI Now hosts Kanoe Gibson and Kainoa Carlson are back with another edition of Check Out N Take Out featuring businesses from around the islands that are open for business! Seafood lovers, get excited! You can now get your Giovanni’s Shrimp fix at their new Kakaako location inside H Mart! The eatery is open for take out daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Giovanni’s has been serving its world famous shrimp for over 27 years and is best known for its Garlic Scampi Shrimp. Its “No Refunds Hot N Spicy” is also an award winning sauce. Giovanni’s has been voted Hawaii’s Best 1st place winner from 2009 to 2020 and made Trip Advisor’s Hall of Fame for the last six years.

If you feel like taking a drive this weekend, the truck in Kahuku is open for take out daily Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays through Sundays until 6:30 p.m. The Giovanni’s location in Haleiwa will also have take out available.

If you’re craving Filipino food, check out Max’s of Manila! The restaurant has two locations: One in town near Costco Iwilei and another at the Waipahu Shopping Plaza. During the extended stay at home order, the two locations will be open for both take out and delivery from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Some of its signature dishes include Max’s Fried Chicken, Pork Hocks, Beef Oxtail Peanut Stew, Pancit Noodles, and Halo Halo. For a limited time, you can even get your food delivered for free when you order online between September 14 – 27.

And finally, Chef Chai is taking the eat-at-home concept to another level with his Wiki Wiki Dinner Boxes which offer weekly meals for families of two to four people. A small box for two costs $120 and a large box for four is priced at $200. Depending on the size selection, the box will include either two or four entrée servings. That means eight total for a couple, or 16 in total for a small family. Also included is a salad of greens, sweet onions, Japanese cucumber, tomatoes and carrots with a tangerine vinaigrette. And for dessert — there’s Hawaiian sweet bread pudding with roasted pineapples and Tahitian vanilla crème Anglaise!
