Chaminade University believes that transformational leaders aren’t born, but developed. That’s why the university has announced the launch of a new fully online Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership for Adaptation and Change that’s slated to start in July 2021.
“Chaminade is really excited to launch this program, and it’s really unique in that it focuses on the local Hawaiian community and also on Pacific Islanders,” says Dr. Dale Fryxell, dean of the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
Leadership requires skill, knowledge and practice. It requires drive. The new program allows students to take the next step in their leadership journey. Delivered fully online, the Ed.D. program equips students with foundational knowledge and tools to take action.
“Chaminade developed this program and the different options to meet the needs of diverse individuals seeking to advance themselves, their careers, and their community,” says Director of Graduate Education Leadership Programs Dr. Hans Chun.
There are three concentrations offered: Organizational Leadership is geared towards professionals working in business, non-profit, public sector, healthcare administration, or other non-educational settings. Indigenous Leadership focuses on preparing leaders within indigenous populations particularly Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders. And finally, Educational Leadership prepares students for leadership positions within educational settings.
“We really feel that we’ve developed a unique and very exciting and thoughtful program,” says Dr. Fryxell. “We really want to prepare students that can go out, make change in their communities, their work places, or the schools that they’re at.”
The university’s interdisciplinary program is geared toward professionals across various sectors, with a student-centered focus that puts you in the driver’s seat of your educational journey. With faculty members as mentors, students are challenged to lead for today and into the future, ready to adapt to ever-evolving organizational environments.
For those interested, the application deadline is July 6, 2021.
