Celebrate National Mai Tai Day on August 30 with Jen Len and Kohana Rum

Check out this delicious Mai Tai recipe from Jen Len at MW made with Hawaii's own Kō Hana rum!

Mai Tai’s are Hawaii’s classic drink known by locals and visitors alike. Mai Tai is a Tahitian word which means “the best” and was created in 1944 by Trader Vic’s. The recipe was kept a secret until people started to breakdown the ingredients. They found that Trader Vic’s used a mix of fruit juices and aged or Agricole rum.

Hawaii has its own locally made Agricole rum from Kō Hana Distillers. The local distillery has many kinds of rums for every occasion. They even offer tours and tastings! Jen Len of MW has a recipe for an amazing, delicious Mai Tai cocktail.

Pour into a shaker:

  • 1 shot of fresh lime juice
  • ½ shot of orange curacao
  • ½ of orgeat (almond syrup)
  • 1 shot of Jamaican rum
  • 1 shot of Kō Hana KOHO aged Hawaiian Agricole Rum
  • Ice

Shake well, pour into a glass with ice and enjoy!
