Celebrate National Hot Toddy Day with this recipe from O’Toole’s

Jan. 11 is National Hot Toddy Day

This year, January 11 is National Hot Toddy Day! There’s nothing better than warming up on a chilly evening with one of these classic cocktails. HI Now host Jobeth Devera and Kanoe Gibson are in the kitchen with Bill Comerford, co-owner of O’Toole’s Irish Pub, getting a taste of some hot toddy recipes.

Hot Toddy from the Brittish Isles:
1 oz. Jameson

1 tsp. Honey

Hot Water

O’Toole’s Hot Toddy:

1 oz. Grand Mariner
1.5 oz. Orange Juice

Hot Water

Cinnamon stick

O’Toole’s is located in downtown Honolulu and has one of the best whiskey collections on the Island along with 16 beers –including Guinness on tap! With a huge wall of Boston Red Sox memorabilia, six screens of sports and live music every night, It has that distinct and pleasant Irish pub feel.

The pub also hosts fine whiskey tastings in its Celtic Room. Comerford presents six or more whiskeys and explains the provenance and character of each, allowing you to explore and taste craft whiskey that you may not be able to easily access. It allows you to find out what you like and don’t like, without the considerable expense and risk involved. Tasting notes are discussed, and you get to learn your likes and dislikes in order to come up with new spirits to suit your tastes from the thousands of choices.

The goal of tasting whiskey is to enjoy the spirit in a way that is meaningful to you — whether that means learning about the different flavor profiles, trying a rare whiskey, or comparing a series of drams to figure out which bottles to add to your bar.

Whiskey tastings are $25 for guests and $20 for Single Barrel Members. For reservations, call (808) 521-4712 or email or Whiskey tastings are also available at Anna O’Brien’s in McCully – Moiliili. Be sure to name the bar you wish to attend in your RSVP!
