See how the organization has been supporting Hawaii's keiki during challenging times
Sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii
Hawaii’s Keiki are growing up in a challenging world, and that’s true now more than ever. Many are facing serious adversity at home, others may just need a little guidance. “Big Brothers Big Sisters, Defend, Inspire, & Empower,” a half hour special premiering Monday, January 25 at 8 p.m. on K5, tells the story of how Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii has been supporting local children ages 6-16. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson talked with President & CEO Dennis Brown and Hawaii News Now Anchor Casey Lund about the upcoming special.
These kids are matched with responsible adults and support by the organization. Through this program, you’ll see just how much those very special relationships mean and how they drastically improve the likelihood that these children will graduate and live a happy healthy life. The show also aims to highlight its mentoring programs that result in proven, positive short-term and long-term outcomes for youth in three main areas: educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, and increased social and emotional well-being.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters, Defend, Inspire, & Empower” will be produced by the multi-award winning Hawaii Stars production team lead by Carole Kai and Producer Dirk Fukushima. The show will be hosted and written by Hawaii News Now’s anchor Casey Lund. Lund along with his BBBS family will share their first hand experience of being a Big Brother.
