Pink Power Pearls lead a health equity revolution at Komen Hawaii MORE THAN PINK Walk

Sponsored by Susan G. Komen

HONOLULU (HI Now) - The Pink Power Pearls is back to participate at Komen Hawaii’s MORE THAN PINK Walk! They have been supporting this walk for 10 years and continue to raise community awareness of critical health issues impacting African-American women and people of color.

In the U.S., breast cancer is the most common form or cancer among Latinos and Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer, compared to white women. It is the most common cancer among Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women in the U.S. accounting for 34% of the diagnosed cancers in the U.S. A number of Komen led initiatives, such as Stand for H.E.R. – a Health Equity Revolution, are underway to make diagnostic screening more accessible and help patients navigate a complex health care system that is often biased, through a patient navigator training program.

Join Susan G. Komen in their upcoming Komen Hawaii MORE THAN PINK Walk that kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Kapiolani Park.
