SMP Hawaii volunteers make immediate and lasting difference in community

HONOLULU (HI Now) - Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Hawaii is administered by the Hawaii State Department of Health, Executive Office on Aging. Protecting Hawaii’s kupuna and their families since 1997.

With more than $70 billion dollars per year lost to Medicare scams, SMP Hawaii helps beneficiaries prevent, detect and report health care fraud, errors and abuse and helps preserve the integrity of the Medicare program.

SMP Hawaii is a volunteer-based federal program providing free, confidential, one-on-one counseling, outreach and educational group presentations to assist and empower beneficiaries, their families and caregivers. SMP Hawaii knows it takes our entire state to protect kupuna.

Senior Medicare Patrol provides services in collaboration with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Office of Inspector General, Social Security Administration, State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Hawaii Aging and Disability Resource Center and other agencies.
