The wait is over! Olive Garden has finally opened its doors at Ala Moana Center, and the new restaurant has locals flocking to get their unlimited breadsticks. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson stopped by to get a taste of the menu many know and love.
“We know that many residents love Olive Garden, and we wanted to be sure that we were able to bring the same family feel and quality of food, but with aloha that you can only find in Hawaii,” says Lead Manage Teresa Morales.
The restaurant’s culinary manager likes to cook in a traditional kitchen. Olive Garden is a national franchise, so Morales says images of microwaves and cut corners come to mind naturally.
“We actually bake our breadsticks, fry our calamari, boil our pasta, and grill our steak,” Morales explains. “We have a line of cooks, not button-pressers! Gas lets us keep our cooking temperatures consistent, so it’s the most reliable. And it really doesn’t get any better or cleaner than Hawaii Gas.”
While a limited is currently available due to COVID-19, the classic Olive Garden favorites are still available. That includes dishes like the chicken marsala, chicken fettucine, and of course, the endless breadsticks and unlimited salads. You can even get a $7 take home meal! Guests can take these home to reheat so they can enjoy Olive Garden in the comfort of their own home. It’s perfect for those who aren’t looking to cook the next day.
Guests can also order take out and pick up is simple — all you do is walk up to the takeout counter to the left of the main entrance and give them your information. And voila! Pick up your food and enjoy it at home.
“Take out has been a success for us, and I’m glad we have it and offer it to our guests and residents of Hawaii,” Morales says.
